African Americans have helped shape the social, economic, and political history of the United States since the arrival of the first African Americans in the land that were slaves. In the 1800s, the restrictions and beliefs that were based on race, ethnicity, national origin, and gender shaped the American society significantly. The attributes have influenced the social, economic, religious, and the political models of the US. Racial discrimination and ethnic superiority that viewed some races and ethnic groups superior to others led to social, economic, and political segregation along the races and ethnic groups. Gender perspective that was built on male superiority and dominance stripped the women of their civil, democratic, personal, and human rights (Martinez,2012).Ethnicity, race, and nationality of orig in influenced negatively African Americans that were in the US in the 1800s. The white Americas saw the Africans as inferior and as intruders to the land that belonged to the white Americans. The African Americans were segregated in the political, economic, and social aspects of the US. The Africans remained as slaves with their best place being to offer cheap labor in the industries and in the farms that belonged to the White Americans.
